A Little History

When we purchased the house we realized there would be a lot of work involved in making the house comfortable for living in as it seemed nothing was recently done to the house by the elderly occupants. As such there are some damp patches on walls that need attention, the windows need replacing (some of them are jammed, the chords broken and frames rotten). Getting Started

With the quotations from the builders for the shell proving to be very expensive, we are considering having the work done in phases, starting with the groundworks. As such a number of businesses have been invited to visit the site and provide quotations for the demolition, drainage and foundations. During this time we decided to remove the existing kitchen. The kitchen cabinets are still in pretty good condition with all the doors still aligned and drawers all working. The worktops are good too. We've posted photos of the kitchen on a local community group so hoping it can be of use to someone. The range cooker has already been sold. Previous Next

The planning was approved having taken just over 4 months since the plans were submitted. It means we can now finally commence the building work. The first stage is to demolish all the out-buildings and conservatory and kitchen, salvaging the bricks to be reused. Once the site is cleared, the ground-works can commence with the footings, foundations and drainage. Here's a reminder of the existing and proposed ground floor plan.
