Day 82 - Kitchen

We were away for the half-term break so there was no progress to report on the house. As the scale of the work can be quite overwhelming, its good to have a short break occasionally just to get the motivation back.

We did however manage to make a trip to the DIY Kitchens showroom. We had seen all the displays at Wickes, Wren and others but not only did we not find something that we were 100% happy with, the price was also beyond our budget. I guess its quite difficult to select a kitchen from the aforementioned suppliers once you've been to the likes of Tom Howleys and Neptune. DIY Kitchens has been getting a lot of mention on social media and the customer reviews were very encouraging so we thought we should at least give it a try. Due to the distance involved and weekend commitments there hadn't been an opportunity to visit their only showroom until now. It was a long drive but if we didn't go now, then we wouldn't have another opportunity till the Easter break by which time we really want to have the kitchen ordered. So leaving our kids with their grandparents, we left at 7:30 in the morning to arrive at 11:00, and after viewing all the kitchens on display, enjoying their coffee and talking to their staff, by the time we returned we agreed the trip was definitely worth the trouble.

So which kitchen did we decide on? The Helmsley kitchen has doors made of solid timber and being in-frame looks very classy. This was the kitchen we had initially chosen but a few of the units that we like are not available in this range. Linwood and Norwood also both have solid timber doors in the shaker style and we're currently leaning towards Linwood. The next problem is deciding on the colour.
