Most of the ceilings in the house are in pretty good condition but where we have had the chimney and external walls removed, they need replacing. So with our bricklayer not on site today (again!), it was a good opportunity to take down the old ceiling.

Photo 1 shows our part-time labourer Mark taking down the ceiling. He's been absolutely fantastic and helped carry all the rubble from the attic rooms and also gutted out the bathrooms.

We are most likely going to drop the ceiling slightly to cover most of the steels.
Back in the attic store room, there was still some tongue and groove wood paneling that needed removing.
Grab lorry arrived to remove more muck Photo 1 Photo 2 The damp proofing was also applied in the hallway. Although it was suggested to take the damp proofing up to 1m, it would have required removing all the skirting and dado-rails. We decided against it as the existing damp course was doing its job so we just applied it below the finished floor level as that wont be accessible. Brickwork has been progressing on the garage. The difficulty has been finding and cleaning the best of the salvaged bricks to reuse. Photo 1 Photo 2 Photo 3 Photo 4 Photo 5 Photo 6 Photo 7 Previous Next
The demolition of the conservatory continues... Managed to salvage around 200 of these bricks which I'm thinking could be used for flower beds or an outdoor BBQ in the future. Previous Next
